A Brief History of Galápagos

The Galápagos Islands were discovered by the Spanish explorer Fray Tomas de Berlanga in 1535. Initially, they were a remote and largely uninhabited archipelago, with their isolation fostering a unique ecosystem. The islands gained international fame in the 19th century when Charles Darwin visited them during his voyage on the HMS Beagle. Darwin’s observations of the islands’ diverse species played a crucial role in the development of his theory of evolution by natural selection. In the 20th century, the Galápagos were designated as a national park and UNESCO World Heritage site, recognizing their ecological significance and the need for conservation.

Why Visit Galápagos?

The Galápagos Islands are a tranquil haven on Earth, offering peace and harmony with nature. Located in Ecuador, they are nestled in the Pacific Ocean and provide an unparalleled adventure into a world where nature remains remarkably preserved.
