Expedition Kayak & camping

You will arrive at Aeropuerto Internacional Mariscal Sucre (Quito International Airport UIO), and private transportation will take your hotel, where you can rest and relax. Get settled before an adventurous second day.

After your flight to Coca, you will start the journey to a remote place in the Ecuadorian jungle. We will go deep into one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. After we arrive in Yasuní, we will start our journey in our kayak. After some hours, you will arrive at the lodge in the jungle. You will have delicious food and get some energy back. At noon we will Kayak in a lagoon, looking for anacondas among other animals.

We will begin a hike of about 1 hour through the primary forest along a trail that will take us to a parrot clay lick. Luckily, we may see peccaries, spider monkeys, and other wildlife along the way. Many species of birds are commonly seen during the hike and various colorful parrots. In the afternoon, we will take our kayaks to a local Waorani community to learn about their worldview, stories, and traditions.

In the afternoon, we will take our kayaks to a local Waorani community to learn about their worldview, stories, and traditions.

We will experience how is to live in the jungle, to survive in extreme weather conditions, and discover their "supermarket" different species of plants and animals that Wao take advantage of their medicinal or toxic properties. They will also show us how to make some tools and techniques for fishing and hunting like weave baskets and using toxic plant "curare" for hunting. In the afternoon we will enjoy with them some ancestral games and prepare a camp for rest near the village.

We will wake up early in the morning to listen to the songs of Wao woman giving thanks for a new day. After local breakfast, we will continue our expedition in kayaks going down through the Tiputini River deeper into the jungle. The more we paddle, the more pristine and wild becomes the jungle. We will find different types of monkeys, capybaras, tapir, flycatchers, herons, hawks turtles, and snakes. We will stop and hike to learn more about local plants and find a place for fishing with some piranhas and another kind of fish as we learned with Waos. We will overnight at our campsite.

Early in the morning we will go down the river with our kayaks and find a new place to camp. Our day is gonna be focused in hike in the jungle and at night we carry out a nocturnal activity, focused on the search for alligators on the banks of the river.

After saying goodbye to our host in the community, we are gonna take a small plane to go back to Shell and take our bus back to Quito. Tonight we are gonna have a farewell dinner, share pictures, experiences, and say goodbye.
