Andes Soul: A Legendary Trail Running Journey Across Ecuador’s Peaks

For 8 unforgettable days, in carefully selected high quality hotels, cozy lodges, and charming haciendas,Andes Soul takes you and a group of like-hearted runners across Ecuador’s majestic Andes through towering volcanoes, shimmering crater lakes, mystical cloud forests, and ancient trails few have ever explored. This retreat is led by Olympic marathoner Ryan Hall together with the expert Wild Explorers team.

Your adventure begins in Quito, Ecuador’s vibrant capital, where colonial charm meets Andean peaks. From there, lace up your shoes and step into the wild. Run across the Pululahua Crater, beneath the mighty Cotopaxi Volcano, and along the breathtaking rim of Quilotoa Crater side by side with Ryan, learning from his experience and sharing the trails together. Each day offers a new rhythm with páramo grasslands at high altitude, rugged canyon paths, cloud forest ridgelines, and lush jungle trails near Baños.

Midway, slow down and recharge at a historic Andean hacienda. With crackling fireplaces, home-cooked meals, and centuries of tradition, it is the perfect pause to ground yourself before the journey continues.

But Andes Soul is more than a running retreat. It is a deep connection to nature, to culture, to yourself, and to a global community of runners sharing this path. Running with Ryan Hall adds an unparalleled opportunity for learning, inspiration, and connection. You will experience daily trail adventures, authentic Andean rituals, soothing recovery sessions, and to make the experience even more special, a private massage therapist will be available throughout the journey to provide restorative sessions after each run, and a professional photographer will accompany the group so you can take home lasting memories captured in stunning images.

From swinging at the “edge of the world” to summiting a volcano at 4,600 meters, this is not just a retreat.
It is an invitation to run with one of the world’s greatest marathoners and feel the spirit of the Andes move you.

LEADING YOUR RETREAT

Ryan Hall.png

Hi, my name is Ryan Hall.  Some of my accomplishments I've had the honor of experiencing are competing in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games in the men's marathon for the USA as well as being the first American to break the hour in the half marathon (59:43) and I still (at the time of this writing) have the current fastest marathon ever run by an American at the 2011 Boston Marathon finishing in 2:04:58.  What most people don't realize about me is that the genesis of these accomplishments was spent running miles and miles in small mountain town trails in southern California where I grew up (Big Bear Lake).  It was in these mountains that I both dreamt of my future and was made strong and ready for the challenges ahead.  Currently at the age of 42 and retired from my career as a professional runner I find myself returning to the mountains for my source of inspiration, clarity, spiritual encounters and just plain old fun and beauty.  I love to be in the mountains.  Every mountain, anywhere in the world is my happy place.  When I am not in the mountains I enjoy time with my wife and four daughters, meditating and praying, and serving others in whatever way I can be most useful.
