A LEGENDARY TRAIL RUNNING MOUNTAIN JOURNEY
Designed for runners who want
real mountain conditions.
This camp is designed for experienced runners looking to train in real mountain conditions while exploring the geographic and cultural diversity that makes this region unique. Participants will run on volcanic terrain, high-altitude páramo, dirt roads connecting Andean villages, cloud forest trails, and lower-elevation jungle foothills.
The Andes of Ecuador offer consistent elevation between 2,500 m to 5,000 m — making it an ideal environment for altitude adaptation, endurance development, and technical trail practice on varied surfaces. The experience also includes interaction with local communities, exposure to traditional food, and an understanding of how people live and train in the mountains.
Elite ultrarunner Hayden Hawks will accompany the group and share practical knowledge including guidance on pacing at altitude, nutrition for long efforts, efficient climbing, use of poles, and warm-up routines.

DAY BY DAY
8 Days. 5 Ecosystems.
One unforgettable challenge.
DAY
1
Quito · Arrival, Rest & Acclimatization
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4
Arrival in Ecuador's capital, located at 2,850 m. This first day is intentionally designed for rest, recovery from travel, and gradual acclimatization to altitude. In the afternoon, a light orientation walk through the city's historic areas allows participants to connect with Quito's atmosphere without physical strain. This soft start helps prepare the body for the demanding days ahead while offering a first cultural immersion into this UNESCO World Heritage city.
DAY
2
Explore Quito & Running Time
MONDAY, OCTOBER 5
In the morning, we lace up for our first trail run with rolling trails and panoramic views of Quito — a perfect acclimatization run. In the afternoon, we head to the Mitad del Mundo, where we stand on the Equator line, then visit the Centro Histórico de Quito for a guided walk through its colonial streets, plazas, and churches.
DAY
3
Cotopaxi · High-Altitude Trails
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6
Early departure toward Cotopaxi National Park, home to one of the highest active volcanoes in the world. Today's trail run takes place across expansive páramo terrain, following wide volcanic paths and rolling grasslands shaped by ancient eruptions. The open landscape allows for steady pacing while adapting to the altitude, and the ever-changing light over the highlands makes this run both physically engaging and visually unforgettable.
DAY
4
Quilotoa Lake · Full Loop & Andean Hacienda
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7
One of the highlights of the camp. We tackle the Quilotoa Loop, running through remote Andean villages, canyon trails, and ridgelines with constant views of the turquoise crater lake. This is a long and challenging day, combining sustained climbs, technical descents, and authentic encounters with local communities. In the afternoon, we arrive at a traditional Andean hacienda to relax and experience rural highland life.
DAY
5
Chimborazo · The Highest Volcano on Earth
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8
We travel south to the Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve, home to wild vicuñas and dramatic high-altitude plains. Chimborazo is the farthest point from the center of the Earth due to the planet's equatorial bulge. The trail run today is short but powerful, taking place at very high altitude with vast open landscapes and a sense of true remoteness.
DAY
6
Baños · Jungle Trails & Waterfall Landscapes
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9
We descend from the high Andes into the lush region of Baños de Agua Santa, gateway to the Amazon basin. The environment changes dramatically — green mountains, waterfalls, and warmer temperatures create a striking contrast to previous days. Today's trail run winds through forested paths and scenic viewpoints. In the afternoon, we recover in natural hot springs fed directly by the volcano.
DAY
7
Baños – Quito · Trail Run & Swing at the End of the World
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10
Morning trail run in Baños followed by a visit to the famous Swing at the End of the World (El Columpio), offering breathtaking views over the valley and Tungurahua Volcano. After the activity, we transfer back to Quito arriving in time to rest, freshen up, and enjoy a farewell dinner together.
DAY
8
Ruco Pichincha · Summit Challenge & Departure
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11
The final day culminates with the iconic Ruco Pichincha summit at 4,696 m, starting from the Teleférico entrance. This 18 km out-and-back trail offers ridgeline running, rocky climbs, and epic views of Quito and surrounding volcanoes. The final stretch includes a short scramble to the summit. FROM PAST RUNNERS
Those who've been there,
say it best.
"
We had so much fun and it was honestly one of the coolest experiences of my running career! You will experience Ecuador from the high mountains in the Andes to the deep jungles of the Amazon. We will run, raft, explore, sight see, eat, and so much more. The food is wonderful, the accommodations are great, and the vibes are out of this world. You will truly get the local experience with local guides and knowledge.
"
Each day brought a new challenge and a new reward as we ran through the mountains, including visits to the breathtaking Cotopaxi and Lake Quilotoa. The highlight was reaching altitudes of up to 5,000 meters and running toward the iconic Chimborazo – an experience that left me in awe of both nature’s beauty and our own resilience. The group I was part of turned this adventure into something truly special. Not only did I get to run alongside Hayden Hawks @hawks_hayden , but I also formed lasting friendships with fellow runners who shared the same passion and spirit.

HAVE QUESTIONS?
Everything you need
to know before you go.
What should I bring?
+
Mandatory: trail running backpack (1L+ water capacity), hydration system, personal nutrition/gels, waterproof jacket, two pairs of trail shoes, cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, long tights, long sleeve technical shirt, insulated down jacket, GPS watch, thermal emergency blanket. Highly recommended: trail running poles, light gloves, buff, electrolyte tablets, headlamp. Conditions in the Andes shift quickly — travel light, pack smart.
What if I can't run one day?
+
We have private transportation available. If you need a break, the group will meet you at the next checkpoint so you will not miss out on the views or the experience.
Is this just for male runners?
+
Absolutely not. This retreat is open to everyone. Whether you come alone, with a friend, or a partner, you will feel included and supported. Our guides are both men and women, ensuring a balanced and welcoming experience for all.
What if I'm traveling solo?
+
Solo travelers are more than welcome — about 95% of participants come alone. This is your chance to meet like-minded adventurers and form friendships that last well beyond the trail. For double occupancy, we will pair you with a same-gender roommate.
What if I'm the slowest in the group?
+
You don't need to worry about pace. We operate with three professional guides for the group, which allows us to divide participants according to their level each day. Stronger runners can move ahead at their rhythm, while others maintain a steady and comfortable pace. No one is left behind or pressured to run beyond their limits.
What if I'm not used to altitude?
+
Altitude is not something you need to fear, but it is something you should respect. We strongly recommend arriving in Quito at least two days before the retreat begins. The structure of the camp is intentionally progressive — elevation and distances increase gradually, allowing your body to acclimatize step by step in a safe and controlled way.
Who can join this retreat?
+
Participants should ideally be comfortable running around 30–40 miles per week on varied terrain and should have experience with trail running including some elevation gain. This ensures you'll fully enjoy the adventure and keep up with the group. You will be guided throughout the entire tour by our expert guides.
