Wild Explorers
Patagonia Adventure & Nature Escape
Where nature, culture, and adventure come together
Discover the untamed beauty of Chilean Patagonia on an unforgettable seven-day adventure through the legendary Torres del Paine National Park. Join the Wild Explorers team for an immersive experience that combines hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, wildlife watching, culture, and community in one of the most spectacular landscapes on Earth.
Our journey begins in the charming town of Puerto Natales, the gateway to Patagonia and a place rich in history, culture, and outdoor spirit. From there, we travel into the heart of Torres del Paine to the breathtaking Río Serrano region, where our lodge is surrounded by some of Patagonia's most iconic scenery. Wake up each morning to panoramic views of the Paine Massif, crystal-clear lakes, winding rivers, ancient glaciers, and endless Patagonian wilderness.
Throughout the week, we'll explore some of the park's most spectacular hiking trails, walking through native forests, open valleys, glacial viewpoints, and remote landscapes where nature remains truly wild. We'll also experience Patagonia from a different perspective during a memorable horseback ride across the steppe, following historic trails once traveled by local baqueanos while taking in breathtaking views of mountains, rivers, and vast open plains.
Our adventure reaches its highlight with one of South America's most iconic hikes: the unforgettable trek to the Base of the Torres del Paine, where the park's legendary granite towers rise dramatically above a turquoise glacial lake.
Beyond the trails, we'll paddle through pristine Patagonian waters by kayak, visit breathtaking viewpoints, and search for the remarkable wildlife that makes this region so unique. Keep an eye out for guanacos, foxes, condors, rheas, flamingos, and, with a bit of luck, the elusive puma in its natural habitat.
Along the way, we'll immerse ourselves in the traditions of Chilean Patagonia, learning about the culture and history of the Magallanes region while enjoying the warmth and hospitality of its people.
Each evening, we'll relax in comfortable lodges, sharing stories over exceptional Patagonian cuisine featuring regional specialties, local wines, and the famous cordero magallánico. Designed for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts seeking adventure, connection, and unforgettable experiences, this journey blends world-class hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, extraordinary wildlife, spectacular landscapes, authentic culture, and the spirit of exploration into one extraordinary Patagonian escape.

FROM PAST RUNNERS
Those who've been there,
say it best.
"
The trip reignited my love for running. Nine days with a group of total strangers, led by Wild Ecuador team, turned into something far bigger than a trail running trip. As a hobby trail runner — not a racer — I arrived a little intimidated. Many in the group were seasoned athletes, and I quietly wondered if I’d be the slow one. But from day one it was clear: this wasn’t about ego or pace. The guides supported every level, people spread out naturally on the trails, and there was always space to move slower or faster when needed. What stood out most were the small moments — the laughs, the encouragement, the conversations over meals. Wild Explorers Team have a gift for attracting kind, honest, deeply caring humans. In just nine days, a real community formed. Our WhatsApp group is still active, and I still follow everyone’s running journeys. This trip wasn’t just about running. It was about moving and learning from Andean communities. Visiting women’s collectives and supporting their work (I use my wooden spoon daily) gave me a tangible connection to the people and the challenges they navigate. I left feeling not just physically stretched, but culturally expanded. I’ll admit — I was slightly nervous about being one of the few or potentially only female on the trip. Instead, I found strength, support, and friendships I didn’t expect. By the end, I told the team: “I don’t like people, but I like you people.” And I meant it. Most unexpectedly, the trip reignited my love for running. I now have a coach and I’m training for my first-ever trail race — something I never would have imagined before Ecuador. Grateful for the miles, the mountains, and the people.
"
I had the pleasure of participating in a running retreat with Elyse Kopecky and Wild Explorers (Jota and Cari) in the Galápagos Islands. It was an amazing trip that was well planned from running, food accommodations and extracurricular activities to a little bit of down time. What a wonderful group of likeminded people. Hopefully there is another trip in my future to consider. Thanks to Elyse, Jota and Cari for some wonderful memories.

Wild Explorers Team think of every possible detail,
you don't have to. They are fun and warm, while also taking their responsibilities very seriously. This results in participants not only feeling safe and protected, but also being able to relax and have a blast during the challenging yet satisfying runs. Ecuador is a magical place that has no equal. Wild Explorers Team do a spectacular job of introducing their clients to the unique aspects of Ecuador that make it so replete with profound cultural significance. From the heights of Chimborazo to the depths found in a creamy cup of handmade chocolate, Ecuador has a Pachamama soul you need to experience to understand. This journey will change your life. Hopefully I'll see you on the trails, as I'll definitely be back again soon.

HAVE QUESTIONS?
Everything you need
to know before you go.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
+
Yes. We're happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary restrictions or allergies throughout the trip. Please let us know about any dietary needs when you register so our team and local partners can plan accordingly.
What currency is used in Chile, and can I use credit cards?
+
Chile's official currency is the Chilean Peso (CLP). Credit cards (Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted) can be used at most hotels, restaurants, and shops in Puerto Natales, though smaller local vendors and rural areas may be cash-only. We recommend carrying some Chilean pesos in cash for markets, tips, and smaller purchases, especially once you're in more remote areas near Torres del Paine. ATMs are available in Puerto Natales, but not once you're at the lodge in Río Serrano — so plan to withdraw cash before heading into the park.
Que dois-je emporter ?
+
Is this tour suitable for solo travelers?
+
Absolutely! Many of our guests travel solo. Our small-group format creates a welcoming atmosphere where it's easy to connect with like-minded adventurers while enjoying one of the world's most spectacular natural destinations.
What kind of weather should I expect?
+
Patagonian weather is famously unpredictable. You may experience sunshine, wind, rain, and cooler temperatures all in the same day. Dressing in layers is the best way to stay comfortable throughout the trip.
What should I pack for the trip?
+
We recommend bringing waterproof hiking boots, comfortable hiking clothing, a waterproof jacket and pants, warm layers, gloves, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a small daypack for daily excursions. A detailed packing list will be provided before departure.
Do I need previous trekking experience?
+
Yes. This adventure is designed for active travelers with a reasonable level of fitness who enjoy spending time outdoors. While some hikes are challenging—especially the full-day trek to the Base of the Torres—our experienced guides set a comfortable pace and ensure everyone has an enjoyable and safe experience.
How much spending money should I bring?
+
Most meals, accommodations, transportation, and activities are included in the retreat, so you won’t need a large amount of spending money. We recommend bringing approximately $150–$300 USD for personal expenses such as souvenirs, snacks, beverages, optional gratuities for guides and drivers, or any purchases you may wish to make in Puerto Natales. Credit cards are widely accepted in most hotels, restaurants, and shops, but it's always a good idea to carry a small amount of cash for smaller purchases.
What wildlife can I expect to see?
+
Torres del Paine National Park is home to some of Patagonia’s most iconic wildlife. During our runs, hikes, and excursions, you may encounter guanacos grazing across the open plains, foxes, armadillos, and a variety of bird species, including condors soaring overhead. If we're lucky, we may even spot a puma, although sightings are rare and always a special experience. The region’s diverse ecosystems, from forests and grasslands to lakes and glaciers, provide excellent opportunities to observe Patagonia’s unique wildlife in its natural habitat.
What type of terrain will we run on?
+
Patagonia offers a diverse and exciting mix of trail running terrain. Throughout the retreat, we'll run on well-established singletrack trails, dirt roads, forest paths, open grasslands, and rocky mountain terrain with stunning views of Torres del Paine, glaciers, lakes, and rivers. Some routes include gentle rolling sections, while others feature moderate climbs and uneven surfaces typical of mountain trails. The terrain is varied but highly rewarding, making this retreat perfect for runners who enjoy exploring nature at a comfortable pace while experiencing some of the most spectacular landscapes in the world.
What flights should I book?
+
To join the retreat, you will first need to fly into Santiago, Chile (SCL). From Santiago, you will take a domestic flight to Puerto Natales (PNT), the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park. Domestic flights are typically operated by LATAM Airlines, although other airlines may also offer service depending on the season. We recommend waiting to book your flights until the retreat is confirmed, and our team will provide recommended arrival and departure times to ensure smooth transfers and a stress-free start to your Patagonia adventure.
What is the weather like in Patagonia?
+
Patagonia is known for its unpredictable weather and dramatic landscapes. During our retreat in April, temperatures typically range from 40–65°F (5–18°C), with cool mornings, mild afternoons, and the possibility of wind, rain, or sunshine all in the same day. The key to staying comfortable is dressing in layers. While conditions can change quickly, April is one of the most beautiful times to visit, with fewer crowds, stunning autumn colors, and spectacular views throughout Torres del Paine National Park.
What should I pack for Patagonia?
+
Once you've registered, we'll send you a detailed packing list so you know exactly what to bring on your adventure.
Patagonia is famous for experiencing all four seasons in a single day, so dressing in layers is essential. We recommend bringing trail running shoes, comfortable hiking clothes, a waterproof jacket, a warm insulated layer, gloves, a beanie, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a small daypack for daily adventures. For the kayaking excursion, we will provide the necessary equipment, but we suggest bringing quick-dry clothing and an extra set of clothes. A detailed packing list will be provided before departure to ensure you're fully prepared for Patagonia’s ever-changing conditions.
Do I need to pay any additional Galápagos fees?
+
Yes. Foreign visitors must pay:
USD 200 Galápagos National Park Entrance Fee (upon arrival in Galápagos).
USD 20 INGALA Transit Control Card (at Quito Airport before departure to Galápagos).
These fees are not included in the trip price and must be paid directly to the Ecuadorian authorities.
How much spending money should I bring?
+
Most personal expenses are minimal, but we recommend bringing extra funds for souvenirs, additional snacks, drinks, gratuities, and personal purchases. Credit cards are accepted in many places, though cash is useful on some islands.
Can non-runners join the trip?
+
Absolutely. Partners, friends, and family members are welcome. Many activities can be enjoyed regardless of running ability, making this a fantastic adventure for active travelers and nature lovers alike
Is snorkeling equipment included?
+
Yes, snorkeling equipment is typically provided during the organized snorkeling excursions.
Are boat rides included?
+
Yes. The itinerary includes inter-island boat transfers and excursions by boat, including the visit to Los Túneles for snorkeling.
What is the weather like in Galápagos?
+

What should I pack?
+

Hat or cap
Sunglasses
Reef-safe sunscreen
Swimsuit
Lightweight towel
Daypack or running vest
Reusable water bottle or hydration system
Sandals or comfortable shoes for the evenings
Waterproof jacket or light rain shell

What wildlife can I expect to see?
+
The Galápagos Islands are home to giant tortoises, marine iguanas, sea lions, blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds, rays, sea turtles, and a wide variety of endemic species. Wildlife encounters are part of the daily experience.
What type of terrain will we run on?
+
Expect a variety of surfaces, including coastal trails, volcanic terrain, dirt roads, lava rock sections, and island paths. The routes are scenic rather than highly technical, allowing you to enjoy the landscapes and wildlife along the way.
Do I need to be an experienced runner?
+
No. This trip is designed for active travelers who enjoy running and exploring outdoors. Daily runs can be adapted to different fitness levels, and participants are encouraged to move at their own pace.
What should I bring?
+
Mandatory: trail running backpack (1L+ water capacity), hydration system, personal nutrition/gels, waterproof jacket, two pairs of trail shoes, cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, long tights, long sleeve technical shirt, insulated down jacket, GPS watch, thermal emergency blanket. Highly recommended: trail running poles, light gloves, buff, electrolyte tablets, headlamp. Conditions in the Andes shift quickly — travel light, pack smart.
What if I can't run one day?
+
We have private transportation available. If you need a break, the group will meet you at the next checkpoint so you will not miss out on the views or the experience.
Is this just for male runners?
+
Absolutely not. This retreat is open to everyone. Whether you come alone, with a friend, or a partner, you will feel included and supported. Our guides are both men and women, ensuring a balanced and welcoming experience for all.
What if I'm traveling solo?
+
Solo travelers are more than welcome — about 95% of participants come alone. This is your chance to meet like-minded adventurers and form friendships that last well beyond the trail. For double occupancy, we will pair you with a same-gender roommate.
What if I'm the slowest in the group?
+
You don't need to worry about pace. We operate with three professional guides for the group, which allows us to divide participants according to their level each day. Stronger runners can move ahead at their rhythm, while others maintain a steady and comfortable pace. No one is left behind or pressured to run beyond their limits.
What if I'm not used to altitude?
+
Altitude is not something you need to fear, but it is something you should respect. We strongly recommend arriving in Quito at least two days before the retreat begins. The structure of the camp is intentionally progressive — elevation and distances increase gradually, allowing your body to acclimatize step by step in a safe and controlled way.
Who can join this Trip?
+
Participants should ideally be comfortable running around 30–40 miles per week on varied terrain and should have experience with trail running including some elevation gain. This ensures you'll fully enjoy the adventure and keep up with the group. You will be guided throughout the entire tour by our expert guides.
