Where nature, culture, and adventure come together
Discover the untamed beauty of Chilean Patagonia on an unforgettable seven-day adventure through the legendary Torres del Paine National Park. Join the Wild Explorers team for an immersive experience that combines trail running, hiking, kayaking, culture, and community in one of the most spectacular landscapes on Earth.
Our journey begins in the charming town of Puerto Natales, the gateway to Patagonia and a place rich in history, culture, and outdoor spirit. From there, we travel into the heart of Torres del Paine to the breathtaking Río Serrano region, where our lodge is surrounded by some of Patagonia's most iconic scenery. Wake up each morning to panoramic views of the Paine Massif, crystal-clear lakes, winding rivers, ancient glaciers, and endless Patagonian wilderness.
Throughout the week, we'll explore some of the region's most beautiful trails, running through native forests, open valleys, glacial viewpoints, and remote landscapes where nature remains truly wild. Our adventure reaches its highlight with one of South America's most iconic hikes: the unforgettable trek to the Base of the Torres del Paine, where the park's legendary granite towers rise dramatically above a turquoise glacial lake.
Beyond the trails, we'll kayak through pristine Patagonian waters, visit breathtaking viewpoints, and discover the incredible wildlife that calls this region home. Along the way, we'll immerse ourselves in the traditions of Chilean Patagonia, learning about the culture and history of the Magallanes region while enjoying the warmth and hospitality of its people.
Each evening, we'll relax in comfortable lodges, sharing stories over exceptional Patagonian cuisine featuring regional specialties, local wines, and the famous cordero magallánico. Designed for runners and outdoor enthusiasts seeking adventure, connection, and unforgettable experiences, this retreat blends world-class trails, spectacular landscapes, authentic culture, and the spirit of exploration into one extraordinary journey.

The trip reignited my love for running. Nine days with a group of total strangers, led by Wild Ecuador team, turned into something far bigger than a trail running trip. As a hobby trail runner — not a racer — I arrived a little intimidated. Many in the group were seasoned athletes, and I quietly wondered if I’d be the slow one. But from day one it was clear: this wasn’t about ego or pace. The guides supported every level, people spread out naturally on the trails, and there was always space to move slower or faster when needed. What stood out most were the small moments — the laughs, the encouragement, the conversations over meals. Wild Explorers Team have a gift for attracting kind, honest, deeply caring humans. In just nine days, a real community formed. Our WhatsApp group is still active, and I still follow everyone’s running journeys. This trip wasn’t just about running. It was about moving and learning from Andean communities. Visiting women’s collectives and supporting their work (I use my wooden spoon daily) gave me a tangible connection to the people and the challenges they navigate. I left feeling not just physically stretched, but culturally expanded. I’ll admit — I was slightly nervous about being one of the few or potentially only female on the trip. Instead, I found strength, support, and friendships I didn’t expect. By the end, I told the team: “I don’t like people, but I like you people.” And I meant it. Most unexpectedly, the trip reignited my love for running. I now have a coach and I’m training for my first-ever trail race — something I never would have imagined before Ecuador. Grateful for the miles, the mountains, and the people.

I had the pleasure of participating in a running retreat with Elyse Kopecky and Wild Explorers (Jota and Cari) in the Galápagos Islands. It was an amazing trip that was well planned from running, food accommodations and extracurricular activities to a little bit of down time. What a wonderful group of likeminded people. Hopefully there is another trip in my future to consider. Thanks to Elyse, Jota and Cari for some wonderful memories.

Wild Explorers Team think of every possible detail,
you don't have to. They are fun and warm, while also taking their responsibilities very seriously. This results in participants not only feeling safe and protected, but also being able to relax and have a blast during the challenging yet satisfying runs. Ecuador is a magical place that has no equal. Wild Explorers Team do a spectacular job of introducing their clients to the unique aspects of Ecuador that make it so replete with profound cultural significance. From the heights of Chimborazo to the depths found in a creamy cup of handmade chocolate, Ecuador has a Pachamama soul you need to experience to understand. This journey will change your life. Hopefully I'll see you on the trails, as I'll definitely be back again soon.

HAVE QUESTIONS?
Everything you need
to know before you go.
Who can join this Trip?
+
Participants should ideally be comfortable running around 30–40 miles per week on varied terrain and should have experience with trail running including some elevation gain. This ensures you'll fully enjoy the adventure and keep up with the group. You will be guided throughout the entire tour by our expert guides.
What if I'm the slowest in the group?
+
You don't need to worry about pace. We operate with three professional guides for the group, which allows us to divide participants according to their level each day. Stronger runners can move ahead at their rhythm, while others maintain a steady and comfortable pace. No one is left behind or pressured to run beyond their limits.
What if I'm traveling solo?
+
Solo travelers are more than welcome — about 95% of participants come alone. This is your chance to meet like-minded adventurers and form friendships that last well beyond the trail. For double occupancy, we will pair you with a same-gender roommate.
Is this just for male runners?
+
Absolutely not. This retreat is open to everyone. Whether you come alone, with a friend, or a partner, you will feel included and supported. Our guides are both men and women, ensuring a balanced and welcoming experience for all.
What should I bring?
+
Mandatory: trail running backpack (1L+ water capacity), hydration system, personal nutrition/gels, waterproof jacket, two pairs of trail shoes, cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, long tights, long sleeve technical shirt, insulated down jacket, GPS watch, thermal emergency blanket. Highly recommended: trail running poles, light gloves, buff, electrolyte tablets, headlamp. Conditions in the Andes shift quickly — travel light, pack smart.
What wildlife can I expect to see?
+
Torres del Paine National Park is home to some of Patagonia’s most iconic wildlife. During our runs, hikes, and excursions, you may encounter guanacos grazing across the open plains, foxes, armadillos, and a variety of bird species, including condors soaring overhead. If we're lucky, we may even spot a puma, although sightings are rare and always a special experience. The region’s diverse ecosystems, from forests and grasslands to lakes and glaciers, provide excellent opportunities to observe Patagonia’s unique wildlife in its natural habitat.
What is the weather like in Patagonia?
+
Patagonia is known for its unpredictable weather and dramatic landscapes. During our retreat in April, temperatures typically range from 40–65°F (5–18°C), with cool mornings, mild afternoons, and the possibility of wind, rain, or sunshine all in the same day. The key to staying comfortable is dressing in layers. While conditions can change quickly, April is one of the most beautiful times to visit, with fewer crowds, stunning autumn colors, and spectacular views throughout Torres del Paine National Park.
What flights should I book?
+
To join the retreat, you will first need to fly into Santiago, Chile (SCL). From Santiago, you will take a domestic flight to Puerto Natales (PNT), the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park. Domestic flights are typically operated by LATAM Airlines, although other airlines may also offer service depending on the season. We recommend waiting to book your flights until the retreat is confirmed, and our team will provide recommended arrival and departure times to ensure smooth transfers and a stress-free start to your Patagonia adventure.
Do I need to be an experienced runner?
+
No. This trip is designed for active travelers who enjoy running and exploring outdoors. Daily runs can be adapted to different fitness levels, and participants are encouraged to move at their own pace.
What wildlife can I expect to see?
+
The Galápagos Islands are home to giant tortoises, marine iguanas, sea lions, blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds, rays, sea turtles, and a wide variety of endemic species. Wildlife encounters are part of the daily experience.
What should I pack?
+

Reef-safe sunscreen
